Pricing FAQ

Is Serpaix really free forever?
Yes. The full desktop and mobile app with local AI, knowledge graph, Obsidian import, voice recording, OCR, and FSRS-4.5 learning is free, MIT-licensed, and never times out. Cloud sync and multi-device access are the only paid features — and you can self-host those for free.
Can I self-host the entire platform?
Yes. Serpaix is MIT-licensed open source. The full Docker Compose stack (Postgres + pgvector, Redis, backend, OCR worker, Prometheus, Grafana) ships in the public monorepo. Self-hosting requires running the stack on infrastructure you control; we provide the configuration and migrations.
Does my data ever leave my device?
By default, never. Notes, voice recordings, and captures stay on your device. The Rust LTM daemon strips PII before any data reaches a server. Cloud sync is opt-in, and all synced data is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before leaving your machine.
Which AI providers are supported?
Groq (Llama 3.3 70B, default for hosted), OpenAI (GPT-4o), Anthropic (Claude), or any local model via Ollama. Switch providers per-session or globally. Local AI shows a privacy badge so you always know data is staying on-device.
What is the MCP Server and is it included?
Yes, included in every plan. The MCP Server exposes your Serpaix knowledge base to Claude Desktop, Cursor, and any MCP-compatible client. When Claude asks about your data, it queries your actual memories — not the internet.
What about HIPAA, SOC 2, and SIEM export?
HIPAA-grade data classification and SIEM export are tracked on the public roadmap. SOC 2 is on the roadmap for the Enterprise plan. We do not claim these capabilities until the corresponding code ships — see the security page for the current state.
